"It will all go so fast."

No, no it won't. No part of this Peace Corps process has gone fast. Not a bit of it. I was called, what, a month ago about placement restrictions. nothing
Family and friends ask me if I have any news all the time and all I can say is that I'm waiting, still. So, whatever.

I made two resolutions for this year. 1) Get all the electronics out of my bedroom. I did that today and I hope that it will help me sleep better. No surfing the web just before bed or listening to Radiohead's "Videotape" on replay until I fall asleep. It is a beautiful song, but I need to get used to falling asleep on my own again.

2) Stop eating, trimming, chopping my hands, feet, and hair. I have been a nail biter for way too long and compulsively cut my hair, nails, and calluses. I've thought of them as extraneous parts of my body, but I can't help but think the pain caused by doing this every few days is unnatural. Let my hair grow and let someone else cut it. Let my nails have that little white strip. Let my hands and feet grow thick enough to do the work they are preparing themselves for (as if I were going to run a marathon barefoot and harvest a freaking cotton crop). I'll miss the taste of nails.
