Peace Corps Application Timeline

Here is a timeline of my Peace Corps Application process thus far (updated last 12-15-08)

February 2008: Freaked out about graduating in May with no idea of what I was going to do with my degree (Adult Education). Whined to everyone about it and my stepmom asked if I had ever thought of the Peace Corps. Huh. Talked about it with family and close friends.

March 2008: Began first on-line application and e-mailed requests for letters of recommendation. Started telling people outside my family.

May 2008: Graduated and procrastinated on PC app.

June 2008: Finally submitted application. BTW, my Tourettes is pretty good at this time.

Mid June: Phone interview with my PC Recruiter. Scheduled face-to-face interview and faxed more requested forms about work/education/experience.

July 11th: Drove to Minneapolis for live interview. Nominated at the close of the interview and called with program options on the drive out of town.

Mid July: Received Medical Packet, freaked out 'cause it is HUGE. Made medical Appointments.

July 31st: Dentist and Doctor appointments.

August 6th: Eye and more doctor appointments.Lots of Faxing and going to Dr. offices to get everything filled out completely and correctly.

End August: Mailed everything to PC Medical offices, received Sept. 8th.

Mid September: Received more forms to complete about Tourette Syndrome and remissive w/ treatment depression.

GOT SUPER DISCOURAGED. Note gap in timeline.

October 24th: Faxed further requested medical forms to doctors.

November 14th: Mailed second round of medical forms to Washington, D.C.

November 21st: Received news of (Limited) MEDICAL CLEARANCE by voicemail!!!

November 28th: Received letter of medical "provisional qualification" for service in the mail.

December 11th: Placement Officer called about changes in program and location from my original nomination (which is now full) due to medical accommodations I may need during service.

Today: More waiting, this time for my placement officer, Jason, to contact me about which countries accept my application based on my resume and medical accommodations.
